CHAMBERLAIN BRIDGE TO ALLAGASH
VILLAGE
Renowned
for its beauty and adventures, the Allagash offers something for everyone.
On this 92 mile ribbon of lakes, streams and rivers surrounded by mountains
and lush forests, you'll discover an area rich in native American history as
we visit places like Umsaskis Lake and Musquacook Stream. The
surrounding forests are home to moose, bobcat, bear, and other wildlife.
You may see bald eagles and osprey in the treetops above. The route
traveled is a mixture of big lakes and a swift river, offering a wonderful
variety of paddling experiences and plenty of opportunities to hone your
skills. One of the many highlights of this adventure will be a visit
to Allagash Falls - a 40 foot drop of cascading water.
We'll paddle the entire 92
mile Allagash River, starting from Chamberlain Lake
Bridge and ending our trip in the small village of Allagash, Maine. This is a
8 night/9 day trip.
We'll spend the first half of the trip paddling across the three Allagash Headwater Lakes,
Chamberlain, Eagle and Churchill Lake.
After carrying around Churchill Dam, you'll have the option to run the famous Chase Rapids,
the most taxing section of whitewater on the Allagash River. The
second half of the trip we'll paddle the lower portion of the Allagash, which is mostly river, with several sections of white water
and plenty of exciting quick water.
